MISSION VISION
-
- Organizing the Syrian-American Community;
- educating the American Public on Syrian Culture and Heritage;
& empowering Syrian-Americans.
-
The Syrian-American Relations Council (SARC) was initially formed through its first
general body meeting, on May 29th 2005, in Oakbrook, Illinois, by a group of
Syrian-Americans who agreed on the necessity of creating an organizing entity with a
focused U.S. domestic agenda that functions within the American system bringing together
the overwhelming amount of resources of Syrian-Americans in order to effectuate real
positive change for Syrian-Americans in the U.S.
SARC intends to pursue the above issues within the context of promoting universal and
democratic values of freedom, justice and respect for human rights.
Among the pressing issues of concern to Syrian-Americans are:
- Portraying an accurate image of Syrian-Americans
- Having a center of cultural, educational and political activities
- Promoting the civic participation of Syrian-Americans.
- Facilitating travel and commerce issues for Syrian-American families
